The Pulitzer Prize winning play by Mary Chase has been adapted for film and television many times – the most popular being the 1950 feature film starring Jimmy Stewart and the ABC television movie starring Harry Anderson. When Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend Harvey, a six and a half foot rabbit, to guests at a dinner party, his sister, Veta, has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate and tries to commit him to a sanitarium.
